The youth have been challenged to actively participate in causing the desired socio-economic transformation in Uganda for the country to achieve its goal of attaining middle-income status by 2020. Dr. Kisamba-Mugerwa, Executive Chairperson, NPA made this call while presenting a paper titled, âUgandaâs Socio-Economic Transformation for the attainment Middle Income Statusâ at a lecture for students, teaching staff, and members of the community at Mulusa Academy, Luwero District on a 26th August 2016.
According to NPA, to achieve sustainable Middle Income Status, the government will focus on inclusive growth through the establishment of various safety nets & increasing household incomes through such interventions as Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), women’s fund, and Youth Fund. Uganda is going to graduate to middle-income status country category by 2020 and all stakeholders, including the youth, should work tirelessly to achieve this goal
