Production of the maiden pulse of the economy report

NPA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, Planning & Economic Development (MoFPED), Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), Economic Policy & Research Commission (EPRC), Bank of Uganda (BoU) and Parliament Budget Office produced the maiden Pulse of the Economy Report.

This report presents an overview of the Uganda’s economy by reviewing recent trends of selected economic statistics over the previous year. It also reviews the second half of the financial year (FY2014/15) and makes a cumulative summation of the performance of the two halves (of the Financial Year) to aid assessment against the National Development Plans (NDPII) targets for 2014/15, the final year of NDPI.

The purpose of this report is to contribute to the national development reporting and assessment of progress on NDP targets. Therefore, it provides a cumulative assessment of performance of the economy against the medium term macro-economic strategy for the national development plans. It will also serve as a tool for assessing the implementation of the Uganda Vision 2040 in the medium term.

The next edition of the Pulse of the Economy report will be released in October 2016.  The collection of data for the next report is on-going and all the relevant stakeholders are urged to participate actively in this process. Relatedly, the general public and other stakeholders are encouraged to take keen interest in the content of the Pulse of the Economy report.
