Hon. Lydia Wanyoto's Personal bio

Hon. Lydia Wanyoto Mutende is a lawyer by profession with a Bachelor of Law degree from Makerere University. She also holds a Bachelor of Education with Arts degree (languages); a Master of Arts in Human Rights; a Masters in international studies and Diplomacy from the University of Nairobi; and a Masters of Women and Gender studies. She has also undergone a number of postgraduate trainings including; media training and information management at the John Hopkins University, Baltimore –Washington USA, Information, Education and Communication from the University of Pretoria.

Hon. Wanyoto is also the chairperson of the women’s league of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and Deputy Vice Chairperson of the care taker committee National Defence College-Uganda in the Ministry of Defence. A former lawmaker at the East African Legislative Assembly, Hon. Wanyoto has also served as a team leader in general elections observation missions (technical support team) to the electoral processes in Burundi, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania. She has also had a stint at African Union Commission as a Deputy Special Representative of the chairperson and deputy head of mission in Somalia.
